Monday Musings

Monday Musings is hosted each Monday by Barbara at Candy Hearts and Paper Flowers

When I started reading Alexander And The Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day by Judith Viorst , I thought, “Yuck! What a horrible, depressing little book. That Alexander is whiny!” That is, until I read the last sentence:

“It has been a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. My mom says some days are like that. Even in Australia.” – Judith Viorst

And I laughed out loud!  How many times do we think that some other place, some other time, some other person, some other thing would be better for us – or even perfect.  When the reality is:  Australia, the 1950’s, and Brad Pitt, and the IPhone all have issues, too.

  1. *laugh* True, it’s kind of a “the grass is always greener” syndrome. My cousin is getting ready to move back to Iceland after having lived in the US for about 10 years, she moved here when she was 12. I think she’ll find you can replace Australia with Iceland in that sentence. She’s hoping things will be better there. I hope they are for her sake.
