1.  Jesus!
The
Bread of Life, Living Water, Saviour of the World…
Nothing satisfies a lost soul like Jesus.
“Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord;” ~ Acts 3:19

2.  Water
“Water makes up 60 to 70 per cent (by weight) of all living organisms and is essential for photosynthesis.”
Nothing satisfies like water to quench dry parched lips!

3.  Sleep
Humans spend about one-third of our lives in slumber!  Sleep deprivation affects our health and our ability to function on a day-to-day basis.  On the other hand, a good night’s sleep can make all the difference in our mind set and in our performance.
“The sleep of a labouring man [is] sweet, whether he eat little or much: but the abundance of the rich will not suffer him to sleep. ~ Ecclesiastes 5:12
There is nothing like a good night’s slumber to satisfy a weary soul.

4.  Nourishment
“The full soul loatheth an honeycomb; but to the hungry soul every bitter thing is sweet.” ~ Proverbs 27:7
Nothing like a good home cooked nutritious meal to fill an rumbling tummy.

5. A Bath
“Every man has a right to a Saturday night bath.”  ~ LBJ
A relaxing warm bath soothes away the body’s pain and drowns the torments of the mind.
“There must be quite a few things that a hot bath won’t cure, but I don’t know many of them.”  ~ Sylvia Plath

6.  Encouragement
“Pleasant words [are as] an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.” ~ Proverbs 16:24

7.  Recovery
The of a lost or stolen item brings satisfaction.
“And when she hath found[it], she calleth [her] friends and [her] neighbours together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost.” ~ Luke 15:9

8.  Warmth
There is nothing like the feeling of warming up in front of a blazing fire in a cozy warm living room cuddled on a comfy sofa, sipping a steaming cup of tea (or mug of coffee/cocoa) to defrost a chilled-to-the-bone body!

9.  Fulfillment
Nothing like the filfillment of a dream, especially one that is hard one for without a struggle there is no thrill in the victory!
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but [when] the desire cometh, [it is] a tree of life.” ~ Proverbs 13:12

10.  Bedsheets
(This after #5, makes #6 possible!)
The nice linens with a high thread count that are  crisp, cotton, and smooth.  Nothing beats falling into bed made with freshly laundered sheets at the end of a long hard day!

11.  Contentment
Being happy with what you have and accepting the things you cannot change and making the best of the life that is yours.
“Not that I speak in respect of want: for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, [therewith] to be content.” ~ Philippians 4:11

12.  Snickers
“Packed with peanuts, Snickers really satisfies.”  Like you didn’t see that coming!  :)
Chocolate contains phenyl ethylamine (PEA), a natural substance that is reputed to stimulate the same reaction in the body as falling in love.

13.  Relief
Which really sums up everything from true love to financial freedom because relief from pain, grief, boredom, financial woes, chaos,  loneliness, sorrow, unrest, clutter, and brokenness comes in many forms.  And brings us right back to Number One.  And another ad slogan,

 “How do you spell relief?”

  1. Marvelous list … I’d add the company of a dog reminding me to live in the moment.
    Hugs and blessings,

  2. A very satisfying list – Thank you!
I’ll add a cup of very hot, sweet tea and a contentedly sleeping child.

  3. I love this list. Chocolate and a hot bath are among my favorite indulgences.
